This is an amazing fantasy book with great characters. Imogen is a young girl who lives with her little sister, Marie, and her Mum. When they go on an outing to the tea rooms with their grandmother, Imogen decides to follow the intriguing ‘Shadow Moth’, and enters an epic fantasy world. Accompanied by her sister and a prince named Miro, she sets out on a quest to save the kingdom and return home.
The book is written in the third person and so manages to reveal more and more about the City of Yaroslav’s tumultuous past. The author also manages to describe all the strange places and creatures inside the story thoroughly, without disrupting the fluency of the book (which is an impressive feat- considering how original the book is.)
‘The Shadow Moth’ stretches the limits of the imagination, and provides fascinating characters and storylines. The fact that all the characters have realistic flaws makes the story far more interesting. I think anyone would enjoy this book, but especially kids who are fans of fantasy.
